TL;DR: The BSc Honours in Management Information System at KIU University is a full-time degree of four years that includes a one-year industrial placement. It blends business knowledge with information technology, and the course page says it is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Entry is mainly through the Physical Sciences or Engineering Technology streams at A/L, with other routes listed below.
Some students enjoy technology but do not want to write code all day. Others like business but want a skill that is hard to replace. Management information systems (MIS) sits between the two. This guide explains what the KIU degree teaches, who can apply and how it compares with other IT routes on Uplift.
What management information systems means
An information system is the combination of people, data, software and processes that an organisation uses to run itself. MIS graduates help organisations choose, build and manage those systems. The work is less about writing programs and more about understanding what a business needs and making sure its technology delivers it.
The KIU course page describes the degree as focusing on the behavioural science and technological elements of information systems. It blends business knowledge with information technology and builds analytical and decision-making skills for technology-driven organisations.

The industrial placement
The degree includes a one-year industrial placement before the final year. For many students this is the most valuable part, because it gives real workplace experience, a reference from an employer and a clearer idea of which type of IT role suits them.
Ask KIU how placements are arranged, which organisations take students, and whether the placement is paid. These details are not listed on the course page, so we cannot answer them here.
Entry requirements
The course page lists three routes. You need to meet one of them.
At least three simple passes (S) in the Physical Sciences or Engineering Technology stream at GCE A/L, in one sitting.
At least three simple passes (S) in any stream at GCE A/L, with a credit pass (C) in Mathematics at GCE O/L, plus a bridging programme approved by the Specified Authority.
At least three simple passes (S) in any stream at GCE A/L, with a simple pass (S) in Information and Communication Technology and a credit pass (C) in Mathematics at GCE O/L.
This means commerce and arts students are not shut out, provided they have O/L Mathematics at credit level and either a bridging programme or an ICT pass. If you are in that group, ask KIU which route fits your results.
