TL;DR: Asian Institute of Business and Science (AIBS) in Colombo teaches degrees and HND programs that list Edge Hill University in the UK as the awarding institute. That means a British qualification studied in Sri Lanka, across computing, software engineering, business, marketing, biotechnology and biomedical science. Most programs ask for six O/L passes including English and Mathematics, plus A/L passes that vary by program.
Many students want a UK-awarded degree but would rather study, work and stay close to family in Sri Lanka. AIBS is one of the Uplift partner institutes that makes this possible, and its Edge Hill programs are a good place to start the comparison.
How the Edge Hill link works
Each program page on Uplift names its awarding institute. For the programs in this guide, that is Edge Hill University in the UK, while classes run at AIBS in Colombo. Several programs are built on Pearson BTEC Higher National qualifications, which sit at the early levels of the UK system and move on to a bachelor's degree.
In plain terms: you study at AIBS, and the qualification carries the awarding university's name. The exact route differs by program, so always read the structure on the course page before you apply.

The list below is pulled live from the Uplift catalogue, so it grows as AIBS adds programs. Each row links to the full course page and the application form.

Computing and software engineering
BSc (Hons) Computing is listed as 3 years full-time. The program record describes a Pearson BTEC Higher National qualification developed with employers, with a clear pathway to a Level 6 bachelor's degree. It covers programming, networking, databases, web development, cloud and information security. For entry, the record asks for six O/L passes including English and Mathematics, and A/L passes in any stream.
BSc (Hons) Software Engineering is listed as 18 months full-time. Entry asks for six O/L passes including Mathematics and English, and A/L passes in any stream or a recognised foundation in IT or computing. Read the BSc (Hons) Software Engineering at AIBS page for the structure.
Students who already hold a relevant HND can look at the one-year Top-Up Degree at Edge Hill University (IT). For the wider picture on this route, see our guide to the top-up degree in Sri Lanka.
Business and marketing
BSc (Hons) International Business is listed as 3 years full-time and combines management, marketing, finance and entrepreneurship. Entry asks for six O/L passes including English and Mathematics, and three A/L passes in any stream.
The marketing route is split. The BTEC HND in Marketing is followed by a top-up year that completes a BSc (Hons) degree, and the BSc (Hons) B&M Marketing is listed as 3 years full-time. The BTEC HND in Accounting and Finance is listed as 18 months full-time. All three ask for six O/L passes including English and Mathematics and three A/L passes in any stream.
Biotechnology and biomedical science
BSc (Hons) Biotechnology and BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science are each listed as 3 years full-time, with Edge Hill University as the awarding institute. Both need six O/L passes including English and Mathematics and three A/L passes in the Science stream. They cover cell biology, laboratory techniques, biotechnology and biochemistry.
The BTEC HND in Food Science and Technology is listed as 3 years and points toward BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Health. For a short bridge before a life sciences degree, the two-month PreBiomed Program suits Biology stream students after A/Ls. For more on these fields, read our guides to the biotechnology degree in Sri Lanka and the biomedical science degree in Sri Lanka.
Which route suits which student
You want to start work in technology
Computing and software engineering suit students who like building things and solving problems. If you have A/L passes in any stream, both list that as acceptable, which makes them open to Commerce and Arts students as well as those from Maths or Technology streams.
You prefer business and people skills
International business and marketing combine management, finance and customer thinking. They suit students who want to work in companies, start something or move into sales and brand roles. The HND steps give you a shorter first milestone before the degree year.
You are a Science stream student
Biotechnology and biomedical science are laboratory based, so they ask for the Science stream at A/L. If you finished Biology and want a bridge before the degree, the PreBiomed Program is the shorter start.
