TL;DR: The Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) is a pre-university programme of about ten months, taught in Sri Lanka by Universal College Lanka (UCL). It follows the curriculum and assessment standards of Monash College Australia, and the tuition listed on Uplift is LKR 1,100,000 in total. You need completed O/Ls or an equivalent, and progression to a Monash degree depends on meeting faculty requirements.
If you finish O/Levels and want a university pathway that is not the A/L route, a foundation year is one of the main options. MUFY is different from most because it is built around one destination, Monash University in Australia. This guide explains what the programme is, how it is structured, who can join and what to confirm first.
What MUFY is
The course page describes MUFY as a globally recognised pre-university programme designed to prepare students for entry into undergraduate degrees at Monash University. It is delivered in Sri Lanka by Universal College Lanka and follows the same curriculum and assessment standards as Monash College Australia.
The programme bridges the academic and English language gap between school and university study. On successful completion, and when progression criteria are met, students gain access to faculties at Monash University including Business, Engineering, IT, Science and Arts.

How the year is structured
MUFY is semester-based and full-time, and it runs for about ten months. The course page says students choose subjects that match their intended degree. The subject list on the page includes English, Accounting, Biology and Chemistry, with English compulsory for all students.
You will also build academic English, research, presentation, critical thinking and time management skills. Learning is described as university-style, with academic and language support.
Your subject choice matters. Ask UCL which MUFY subject combination your target Monash degree requires, and confirm it before you enrol.
Entry requirements
The course page sets out two parts.
Academic
Completion of GCE O/Ls or an equivalent. Exact requirements vary with the MUFY subjects you choose and the Monash degree you want. Students with pending results may be considered case by case.
English
Applicants must meet Monash College English requirements. These may include prior academic study in English or an approved English language test score. The page says exact thresholds vary by subject combination and destination degree, so ask UCL for the figure that applies to you.
Fee
The tuition fee listed on Uplift for MUFY is LKR 1,100,000 in total. Ask UCL what else you will need to budget for, such as books, application fees and any costs that apply when you progress to Monash. The page does not list an intake date, so confirm the next start date with the college.
What happens after the foundation year
Completing MUFY does not guarantee a place. The course page states that entry to Monash University is subject to meeting progression and faculty-specific requirements. Before you start, ask UCL for the typical results needed for your chosen faculty and what the progression process looks like.
