TL;DR IT courses in Sri Lanka on Uplift start with a one-year foundation or an eight-month diploma, continue through an HND, and reach honours degrees and master's programs. School leavers with O/Ls can start at foundation level, A/L students can go straight to a degree, and graduates can move to a master's.

This guide sets the routes side by side on entry, length and award. Browse the computing study area and the information technology study area for the live list, which comes from Asian Institute of Business and Science, ESOFT Uni, Universal College Lanka, Colombo International Campus, Nawaloka College of Higher Studies and KIU University.

What are the IT courses in Sri Lanka for A/L students?

Students with A/L passes can apply for an IT or computing degree directly. The programs listed today include these degrees.

Choose a degree by its entry rule

The BSc (Hons) Computing at AIBS is a 3-year full-time degree with Edge Hill University named as the awarding university. AIBS lists 6 O/L passes including English and Mathematics, or 2 A/L passes in any stream, or an equivalent qualification.

The BSc (Hons) in Computing at ESOFT Uni is also 3 years full-time, awarded by London Metropolitan University, with listed tuition of LKR 1,620,000 in total. Entry is a minimum of 3 A/L passes or an equivalent foundation qualification, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Universal College Lanka lists a 4-year Bachelor of Applied Computer Science, and KIU University lists a 4-year BSc Honours in Management Information System. Neither page shows a fee at the time of writing, so ask the institute.

How do you choose between IT courses?

Use the same checks on every program.

  • Entry: O/L results, A/L results, a diploma or a first degree.

  • Length and delivery: months or years, and full-time, hybrid or part-time.

  • Award: the institute or the awarding university named on the page.

  • Fee: use the figure on the course page, and ask the institute when none is shown.

  • Fit: a foundation to build up, a degree for a full qualification, a master's to specialise.

Uplift repeats what each institute publishes, so confirm fees and intake dates with the institute before you apply.
