TL;DR A cyber security course in Sri Lanka can start as an HND after A/Ls, continue as an honours degree, or be taken as a master's after a first degree. This guide compares the routes on Uplift by entry rule, length and award, so you can match a course to your results and your goal.

Each level has its own focused guide on Uplift, and this page ties them together. Browse the computing study area and the cyber security study area for the live list. The programs come from Universal College Lanka, ESOFT Uni, KIU University and Colombo International Campus.

Which cyber security course in Sri Lanka should you choose?

The programs listed today cover a higher national diploma, honours degrees and postgraduate study. Open each course page for the current entry rules.

Which cyber security course suits a school leaver?

The HND route

The HND in Computing (Cyber Security) at Colombo International Campus is a hybrid program of 18 months. Entry is at least 2 A/L passes in any stream, or a recognised foundation qualification in IT or computing, with basic English. The page states that IELTS or PTE is not mandatory for entry. Our HND in Cyber Security guide covers it in detail.

The honours degree routes

The wider comparison sits in our guide to cyber security degrees in Sri Lanka.

Which cyber security course suits a graduate?

The MSc Cyber Security at Universal College Lanka runs for 12 months full-time with listed tuition of LKR 325,000 in total. Entry is a bachelor's degree with at least second-class lower, a professional qualification equivalent to a UK degree, or relevant experience.

The MSc in Network and Information Security at ESOFT Uni is a hybrid Kingston University program with listed tuition of LKR 790,000 in total. ESOFT asks for a relevant degree in computing, IT or engineering with at least second-class honours. Read our MSc in Cyber Security guide and the MSc in Network and Information Security guide for the detail.

What do cyber security programs teach?

The program pages describe different emphases. Colombo International Campus lists hands-on training in ethical hacking, network security and cloud-based cyber defense. ESOFT Uni lists ethical hacking, incident response and digital forensics.

Universal College Lanka describes a mix of programming, computer networks and security, and KIU University describes networking, computer technology and cyber security. Read the module list on each course page, because the emphasis decides whether a course suits a technical or a management career.

How do you pick between cyber security courses?

Use the same checks on every program.

  • Entry: A/L passes, a foundation qualification or a first degree.

  • Length and delivery: months or years, and hybrid or full-time.

  • Award: the institute or the awarding university named on the page.

  • Focus: networks, digital forensics or management of security.

  • Fee: use the figure on the course page, and ask the institute when none is shown.

Uplift repeats what each institute publishes, so confirm fees and recognition directly before you apply.
