This two-year full-time, face-to-face Higher Diploma is awarded by Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). It teaches the design and implementation of smart, largely self-operating systems through mechanics, electronics, robotics, AI and control engineering, with substantial lab and project work. The first year covers engineering mechanics, electronics, engineering mathematics, programming for autonomous systems, materials and manufacturing, and signals and systems with AI. The second year covers circuit analysis and electric power, instrumentation and control, embedded systems, industrial robotics, electrical machines and drives, industrial automation with PLC and SCADA, and an engineering design project. A credit pass (C) or better for English at the GCE O/L, or ICBT Academic English Studies, or IELTS 6.0 overall with no component below 5.5, taken within two years of the course start date (or equivalent).
