About this course

This two-year full-time, face-to-face Higher Diploma is awarded by Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). It combines engineering and medical sciences to prepare students to design, operate and maintain medical equipment and intelligent healthcare systems. The first year covers biomedical engineering, electronics, engineering mathematics, human anatomy and physiology, medical physics and programming for intelligent systems. The second year covers AI-based biomedical signal processing and control theory, embedded systems and VLSI design, the healthcare industry, medical instrumentation, electrical machines and drives, and an engineering design project. Education

13 years of formal education, completed through the GCE A/L or through the Foundation programme after the GCE O/L.
Other Level 3 qualifications may be considered for suitability.
Engineering programmes require maths, biosciences and/or technology subjects.

English Language Proficiency

A credit pass (C) or better for English at the GCE O/L, or ICBT Academic English Studies, or IELTS 6.0 overall with no component below 5.5, taken within two years of the course start date (or equivalent).
