About this course

This two-year full-time, face-to-face Higher Diploma is awarded by Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). It builds core mechanical engineering skills in areas such as thermodynamics, fluid systems and control, and can lead to an LJMU-backed top-up degree. The first year covers engineering mechanics, engineering drawing and CAD, electrical and electronic principles, engineering mathematics, materials and manufacturing, thermodynamics and engineering economics. The second year covers machine design, fluid mechanics and hydraulics, instrumentation and control, heat transfer and combustion, mechatronic systems and robotics, and an engineering design project. Education

13 years of formal education, completed through the GCE A/L or through the Foundation programme after the GCE O/L.
Other Level 3 qualifications may be considered for suitability.
Engineering programmes require maths, biosciences and/or technology subjects.

English Language Proficiency

A credit pass (C) or better for English at the GCE O/L, or ICBT Academic English Studies, or IELTS 6.0 overall with no component below 5.5, taken within two years of the course start date (or equivalent).
