About this course

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is a three-year, Sri Lankan UGC-approved degree programme offered by IIT in Colombo. Unlike most of IIT's degrees, it is awarded by the institute itself rather than a partner university. The curriculum combines core business disciplines with digital and future-focused learning. Year 1 (Level 4) builds foundations in accounting, economics, mathematics, statistics, digital fluency and management. Year 2 (Level 5) covers marketing, operations, financial and cost accounting, law, human resource management, auditing, data analytics and sustainability. Year 3 (Level 6) includes an industrial placement, advanced corporate finance, business strategy, investment and portfolio management, AI in business, and a capstone project. IIT lists full-time weekday, full-time weekend and part-time study options. Assessment uses authentic assessments and semester-end examinations. IIT also mentions a possible articulation pathway with Gannon University, USA.

Academic Entry Requirement

General

Applicants must be 35 years of age or younger at the time of admission and meet one of the pathways below.

Pathway A: Commerce Stream

At least three Simple Passes (S) in the Commerce stream at the G.C.E. A/L examination, in one and the same sitting.
A Credit Pass (C) or above in English at G.C.E. O/L, or in General English at G.C.E. A/L.

Pathway B: Non-Commerce Stream with Economics

At least three Simple Passes (S) in any stream at G.C.E. A/L, in one and the same sitting, with Economics as one of the main subjects.
A Credit Pass (C) or above in Mathematics at G.C.E. O/L.
A Credit Pass (C) or above in English at G.C.E. O/L, or in General English at G.C.E. A/L.

Pathway C: Any Other Stream

At least three Simple Passes (S) in any stream at G.C.E. A/L, in one and the same sitting.
Successful completion of an institutional bridging course approved by the University Grants Commission.
A Credit Pass (C) or above in Mathematics at G.C.E. O/L.
A Credit Pass (C) or above in English at G.C.E. O/L, or in General English at G.C.E. A/L.

Cambridge / Edexcel A/Levels

A parallel three-subject combination equivalent to the applicable local pathway, with comparable English and Mathematics qualifications.
The approved bridging course may be required where applicable.

Other International Qualifications

A three-subject combination equivalent to the Sri Lankan G.C.E. A/L, and equivalent English and Mathematics results for the applicable pathway.
Completion of the approved bridging course may be required.
