TL;DR. The BA (Hons) in Business Administration at ESOFT Uni is a London Metropolitan University degree studied in Sri Lanka, listed on Uplift at LKR 1,620,000 in total tuition. It takes A/L students directly into Year 1, lets HND holders join at Year 3, and covers finance, marketing, strategy and human resources.

Apply now

Business administration is a broad degree, and that is both its strength and its risk. It keeps doors open across industries, but only if the course teaches you to apply what you learn. This guide uses the Uplift listing to explain what the ESOFT Uni program contains, who qualifies, how the exit points work and what to ask before you apply.

What you study

The program description covers the full business lifecycle, from forming an idea to assessing a strategy. The subjects named are financial management, economics, marketing, strategy and human resources. Learning is built around case studies, guest lectures, organisation visits and online business simulations, with work-based learning modules for practical experience.

The first two years follow an HND-style structure with these compulsory modules:

  • Business and Business Environment, Marketing Processes and Planning, Human Resource Management, and Leadership and Management in the first semester.

  • Accounting Principles, Managing a Successful Business Project, Business Law, and Professional Identity and Practice in the second.

  • Research Project, Organisational Behaviour, Business Strategy and Business Intelligence in the third.

  • Principles of Operations Management and Global Business Environment, among others, in the fourth.

Year 3 is the top-up year. Its compulsory modules include International Finance and Trade, Business Without Frontiers, Strategy Choices and Change, Organising and Managing Across Cultures, Services Marketing, and a Management Investigations and Dissertation.

Entry requirements

The listing gives two academic routes, and you need only one:

  • Direct entry to Year 1 with Sri Lanka A/L, three passes, or an equivalent foundation qualification, or a Pearson BTEC Level 3 qualification.

  • Direct entry to Year 3 (the top-up year) with an HND or an equivalent Level 5 qualification, where you may be eligible.

English proficiency is also required. The listing says applicants may be asked to show competency but does not name a test or a score. It also states only passes, not specific A/L grades, so ask ESOFT Uni how it assesses your results.

Preparing your application

Keep your A/L result slip or foundation certificate, your O/L results and a copy of your identity document ready. If you plan to join at Year 3 with an HND, also collect your transcript and the awarding body details, because ESOFT Uni will need them to assess your eligibility.

Fees and duration

The Uplift listing shows total tuition of LKR 1,620,000 and a separate application fee of LKR 25,000. The standard duration is three years of study, and the listing names London Metropolitan University as the awarding university. The Colombo campus is listed, and the intake records on the listing also show a Kandy campus. Intake dates change, so open the program page for the dates that are current when you apply.

The HND exit point

The program has a planned exit point. After the second year you can leave with an HND qualification, start work, and return later to complete the degree. That helps if money or family circumstances change mid-course, though you should ask ESOFT Uni how long you can wait before returning and whether the fee or entry rules change.

If you already hold an HND from another institute, the Year 3 route lets you skip Years 1 and 2. Read our guide on turning an HND into a degree for the questions to ask about credit recognition.

How it compares with other business degrees

Business degrees on Uplift differ in length, specialism and where they are studied. Our guide to business management degree routes sets out those differences, and the London Metropolitan University degrees at ESOFT Uni page shows what else the same partner offers. Choose by fit: a general administration degree suits students who have not yet decided on a specialism, while a degree named for marketing, finance or HR suits those who have.

Questions to ask before you apply

  1. If I leave with an HND after the second year, how long do I have to return for the final year?

  2. How is my A/L result or foundation qualification assessed for Year 1 entry?

  3. What English evidence will I be asked for?

  4. Can tuition be paid in instalments, and what does the application fee cover?

  5. Which campus and which study mode will my intake use?

Frequently asked questions

No subject is named in the entry route. The listing asks for A/L passes or an equivalent qualification.

Does the degree come from a Sri Lankan or a British university?

Can I compare this with other programs?
