TL;DR: An HR management degree in Sri Lanka prepares you for roles in recruitment, training, pay and employee relations. On Uplift you can compare a four-year Bachelor of Management Honours in Human Resource at KIU University, a short online HR Analytics certificate, and an MBA (Human Resources) awarded by London Metropolitan University at Esoft Uni. School leavers, working staff and managers each have a different starting point.
Every organisation in Sri Lanka, from a garment factory to a software company, runs on people. Someone has to hire them, train them, pay them fairly and keep them. That is human resource management, and it sits close to every part of a company.
If you like working with people and are comfortable with policy, numbers and difficult conversations, this field is worth a close look. This guide lines up the HR programs listed on Uplift and shows where each one fits.
What HR management covers
KIU's course page lists the main learning areas of its HR degree as human resource planning, talent acquisition and development, performance management, employee relations, compensation and benefits, strategic HRM and organisational development.
In practice, you learn how to:
Plan how many people a business needs and with what skills.
Recruit, select and bring new staff on board.
Design pay, benefits and performance reviews.
Handle grievances and employee relations fairly.
Use data to spot problems such as high staff turnover.

Which route fits you
You have finished A/Ls. A four-year honours degree gives you a full grounding and time for an internship.
You already work in an office and want an HR skill fast. An eight-week online HR Analytics certificate adds a practical skill without stopping work.
You are a graduate or manager moving into HR. A part-time MBA with an HR focus lets you study while you keep your job.
KIU's course page also notes that students may take CIPD or equivalent HR certifications alongside or after the degree. Many HR professionals combine a degree with a professional qualification over time.
