Offered by
Institute of Bankers of Sri LankaThe Diploma in Compliance is a 100-hour English-language programme for people working in banks and financial institutions. IBSL sets five learning goals: understanding the regulatory environment and the Central Bank's powers, the role of the compliance function and compliance officer, issues in developing compliance policies, money laundering offences and requirements, and types of financial crime. Its six modules begin with the need for regulation, the financial regulatory framework in Sri Lanka and international initiatives. They then cover the financial industry and risk management, including the Basel Accords, and creating a compliance culture. Later modules look at the compliance officer's role, managing the risk of money laundering and terrorist financing, including KYC and the Financial Intelligence Unit at the Central Bank, and managing financial crime such as market abuse, insider dealing, fraud, bribery and corruption. The last published intake was held on Sunday mornings. A certificate is awarded.
