About this course

The Foundation Certificate in Engineering is a one-year full-time pre-university pathway at Curtin Colombo. It is meant for students who have completed O/Levels and want to move into Curtin's engineering degrees, and it covers engineering fundamentals, mathematics and communication skills. Each semester pairs Academic and English Communication with Engineering Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Skills, in two stages (I and II). Teaching is interactive with hands-on projects on engineering principles, materials and systems, and the course builds problem-solving, teamwork and technical literacy. The page lists progression to the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Civil and Construction, Electrical and Electronic, Mechanical, and Mechatronic Engineering at Curtin Colombo. It also names Computer Systems Engineering and Electrical Power Engineering, which it says are available only at Curtin Australia. The page does not say who awards the certificate. Academic Entry Requirement

GCE Ordinary Level

An O/L pass in at least six subjects, including credits in Mathematics and English (Sri Lanka), or at least five subjects with the same credits (London O/L; the page also says six, so confirm the number).
A pass in the aptitude test and the compulsory English and Mathematics placement tests.

English Language Requirement

No separate English test score is listed. Credit in English at O/L and a pass in the English placement test are required.

Degree fees are published in Australian dollars per semester, with two semesters a year, and apply to degrees completed in Sri Lanka.

Foundation certificates are priced in Sri Lankan rupees: Rs. 475,000 per semester (Rs. 950,000 in total) plus a Rs. 10,000 application fee, as listed for March 2026.

PhD fees are AUD 9,000 per year full-time and AUD 4,500 per year part-time.
