The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Civil and Construction Engineering is a Curtin University degree taught at Curtin Colombo over four years of full-time study. It is aimed at students who want to work on the built environment: buildings, bridges, highways, harbours, dams, irrigation, water supply and municipal infrastructure. After a shared first year of engineering mathematics, mechanics, programming and design, the course moves into construction materials, surveying, fluid mechanics, geomechanics and structural analysis. Later years cover steel and reinforced concrete design, transportation engineering and earthworks, hydraulics and hydrology, and project and cost management. In the final year you complete a capstone civil engineering project and a major research project, and you take part in industry experience through work placements or a mix of technical and non-technical activities.
