TL;DR: KIU University lists four postgraduate nursing programs on Uplift: an MSc in Nursing (2 years), a Master of Nursing Education (1 year), a Master of Nursing Management (1 year) and an MPhil in Nursing (1 year). All four are full-time and study in Colombo. Each asks for a nursing degree at SLQF Level 6 or a close equivalent. KIU's listings describe them as recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education and the UGC.
If you are a registered nurse who wants to move into teaching, management or research, a master's degree is the next step. This guide explains the four KIU programs on Uplift and how to choose between them.

Which program fits your goal
You want to teach nursing
Choose the Master of Nursing Education. The listing describes it as preparing nurses for education-related positions, training and mentoring future nurses, or running continuing education for current staff.
You want to lead a ward or a department
Choose the Master of Nursing Management. It is aimed at nurses who want leadership and administrative roles, with a focus on healthcare management, policy development and decision-making.
You want a broad advanced qualification
Choose the MSc in Nursing. The listing says it expands your scope of practice and opens the way to MPhil and PhD study. You pick an elective in either educational processes or leadership and management.
You want to do research
Choose the MPhil in Nursing. It is designed for graduate nurses who want to conduct high quality nursing research, work as nursing academics or continue to doctoral study.
Skills you will build
The MSc listing names advanced nursing research and scholarship, leadership and management in healthcare, evidence-based practice, and quantitative and qualitative research. It also covers research methods, ethics and statistics. These are the skills that senior ward, teaching and research posts tend to ask for, so pick the program whose modules match the job you want.
How to choose by timeline
Want the shortest route: the Master of Nursing Education or Master of Nursing Management, each 1 year.
Want the widest door to doctoral study: the 2-year MSc with a dissertation, or the 1-year MPhil.
Not sure yet: ask KIU whether credits or progression links the programs, since the MSc entry rules also name the other two as routes in.
Entry requirements
KIU writes entry rules around the Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework (SLQF).
For the MSc in Nursing, you need a BSc Honours in Nursing at SLQF Level 6 from a recognised university, or a Master of Nursing Education or Management at SLQF Level 9, or another SLQF Level 6 qualification accepted by the specified authority.

For the MPhil, you need an SLQF Level 6 honours degree with a minimum of 30 credits in a relevant area. A qualifying examination may apply.
Read the full wording on each course page before you apply, because the exact routes differ by program.
