A one-year Edith Cowan University degree in Colombo for registered nurses with a diploma, building on advanced standing with eight further units.
Awarded by
Edith Cowan University
The Bachelor of Science (Nursing Studies) is for Registered Nurses who hold a diploma-level qualification from their home country and want an Australian degree. It is an Edith Cowan University course taught at the Rajagiriya campus. Students who are granted full advanced standing receive credit for 16 units and then complete the remaining eight units. These cover research methods and statistics, healthcare ethics and law, chronic conditions and supportive nursing care, nursing older people, mental health and wellness nursing, health assessment and clinical decision making, leadership and governance for nurses, and teaching and learning. ECU states that the course does not lead to registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Graduates who want a course that leads to registration can apply for ECU's Master of Nursing (Graduate Entry) course in Australia. The one-year duration depends on advanced standing being granted. ECU Sri Lanka published a 15% tuition scholarship for new 2026 enrolments in this course.
Full advanced standing is 16 units; the remaining 8 units are studied at ECU Sri Lanka. Credit is assessed by the campus.
