Overview

About this course

The BBST (Hons) in Bioresource Management and Technology is a four-year degree from the Faculty of Technology at Horizon Campus, delivered over eight semesters with 120 credits. It looks at how biological resources are used and managed in a sustainable way. After a shared science foundation, the third year covers environmental and bio-resource management, aquatic bio-resource management, socio-economic dimensions of environmental management, forest resource management, production technology of bio-pharmaceuticals, and climate change and conservation of biodiversity. Electives include protected agriculture, fertilizer technology, seed technology and micro irrigation management. The final year adds climate smart agriculture management, financial analysis and project management, and a research project. The campus lists laboratory and field training in bioresource analysis, sustainable harvesting and data analysis software, plus a research project with a thesis and an internship with a training report. Specialisation options named on the page are optimising bioresource management practices, biotechnology applications, and policy and economic analysis.
