Software engineers design and develop the computer-based systems that power everyday devices, machines, and operations across diverse industries — from mobile apps to electric vehicles, medical robotics, and logistics. This course teaches the essential principles of software system design, measurement, and analysis. You will work with current and emerging technologies to create engineering solutions for complex challenges. The programme builds a strong foundation in related disciplines such as computer science and electrical engineering, with a focus on industrial and embedded systems, software requirements, design, implementation, and testing. In your final year, you will complete a significant research project applying systems-thinking to devise innovative solutions to real-world software engineering problems. This degree also offers the flexibility to start working after completing the second year with an HND qualification, and you may choose to complete the degree in Sri Lanka or transfer to a partner university in the UK or Australia.
