Electrical and electronic engineers design and develop the systems and technologies that generate, transmit, and utilise electrical energy — from power grids and renewable energy systems to communication networks, smart devices, and advanced control systems in transportation, healthcare, and manufacturing. This course teaches the essential principles of electrical circuits, electronics, control systems, and signal processing. Students work with current and emerging technologies to design and develop innovative solutions for energy, communication, and automation challenges. Core disciplines include mathematics, physics, circuit theory, electromagnetics, and computer engineering, with focused application in power systems, embedded electronics, instrumentation, control systems, and digital systems design. In the final year, students complete a significant research project applying systems-thinking to devise innovative solutions to real-world electrical and electronic engineering problems. Flexible options include exiting after Year 2 with an HND or transferring to a UK partner university.
