Overview

About this course

Civil engineers shape the infrastructure of modern society — from transport systems and water networks to sustainable buildings and environmental solutions. They are at the heart of planning, designing, and maintaining the built environment. This course builds a solid foundation in structural analysis, geotechnics, hydraulics, materials science, and surveying, while introducing key areas such as highway and transportation engineering, environmental impact assessment, and construction management. Digital tools including BIM are integrated throughout, reflecting current industry practice. The programme also develops essential skills in project planning, safety, sustainability, and professional ethics — preparing graduates for complex real-world engineering challenges. In the final year, students complete a major research project applying civil engineering knowledge to design solutions that are both practical and sustainable. Flexible exit options include an HND after Year 2, with the possibility of transferring to a UK partner university.
