Edith Cowan University
The Bachelor of Design combines traditional design skills with newer fields such as service design, human-centred design and experience design. It is an Edith Cowan University degree taught at the Rajagiriya campus. Learning is project based: hands-on work, collaborative exercises and simulations around social, cultural, technological and environmental challenges. The first year covers design foundations, digital design, prototyping, design knowledge and design thinking. Second year adds design studies, an experience design studio, strategic visual communication and a service and system design studio. Third year is built on Design Studio 1 and 2 and Design Futures. Each year includes elective units chosen from those available at the campus. Staff mentor students in building a portfolio. ECU lists possible roles including graphic designer, UX designer, UI designer, service designer, web designer, game designer, interior designer and illustrator. Note that the ECU Sri Lanka fee table names the course "Bachelor of Design (Games and Interactive Design)" while the course page uses "Bachelor of Design".
International students check the ECU secondary school results page for the equivalent of their qualification, as referred to on the ECU Sri Lanka website.
